Welcome to Chicago

A transfer will be arranged from the airport to take you to your hotel, which will serve as your base for two nights.

This is an opportunity to rest a little before leaving for your motorcycle adventure.

Spend a night in Chicago.

Discovery of Chicago and recovering your motorcycle

Before leaving for Route 66, you will have time to recover from jet lag by spending a quiet day.

Take the opportunity to visit the city of Chicago, among the skyscrapers, parks, museums, and bars... you'll have something to see!

In the afternoon, you pick up the motorbikes for been ready when it's will time to leave the next morning.

From Chicago to Springfield

And it's off to Springfield, the capital of Illinois. You discover Joliet known thanks to the movie the Blues Brothers, Cicero as Al Capone's lair and you reach the city of Abraham Lincoln.

In Springfield, the Cozy Dog Drive-In, famous for its sausage coated in corn flour and served on a stick is a delight.

Distance is approximately 330 km.

From Springfield to St Louis

You will go from Illinois to Missouri.

The Mississippi River will surely remind you of the adventures of Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn!

Today, the destination is St. Louis, named after Louis XIV in 1964 by its French founder, Pierre Laclède.

There you can enjoy the many museums, the basilica, and the parks, which are surrounded by friendly craft breweries.

Everyone will find what they are looking for in this festive city and its many typical bars and restaurants.

Distance is approximately 170 km.
Spend the night in downtown St Louis.

From St Louis to Springfield

Don't worry, you won't turn back! You go here to Springfield Missouri and not Springfield Illinois.

The itinerary will take you past the world's largest rocking chair (Route 66 Rocker), through old motels and gas stations that haven't changed much since the time.

The General Stores, a small supermarkets from the last century, have a special cachet like these one in Cuba, all in woodwork.

It is in Springfield that Route 66 was named in 1926, a photo is advised in front of the commemorative plaque of the event.

From Springfield to Oklahoma City

This day is marked by a succession of ghost towns, abandoned when Route 66 was changed from main road to secondary.

Some of these places are worth a stop. You are in a former mining area and your evening stop, Joplin, tells the story in its museum.

Route 66 helped revive this small town during the mining era. A short detour may take you to Red Oak II, where a village was restored by a sadden local boy who was abandon by his home village.

And here you are in Oklahoma! Crossing a few small towns like Miami and Tulsa where many vestiges of Route 66 are still present: gas stations, cafes. There is also an open-air movie theater as we sometimes see them in the movies.

You arrive after crossing Arcadia to Oklahoma City, at your stopover for this night. This city was built on oil wells which did not bring in much money for the city for a long time. Some museums can be visited there.

From Oklahoma City to Amarillo

After Oklahoma City, you'll continue by the west.

Close to Clinton and its museum on the mythical road next to a restaurant with the look of the time, you will reach Elk City which will be the last town before Texas!

As in many places, the black gold rush and its decline left a lot of ruin on route 66. You'll see some very beautiful vestiges of the flourishing oil era and especially in Amarillo with the famous restaurant The Big Texan where you can try the local steak.

Cadillac Ranch and its famous cars planted in the ground are only a few kilometers from the road and are worth the detour.

From Amarillo to Santa Fe

After a few villages, you leave Texas for New Mexico.

A little refreshing stop will be made in Tucumcari in front of some very nice murals and establishment signs that are all trying to win the first prize for kitsch art.

But we love it! In Santa Rosa, fans will find again the stage locations of "Grapes of Wrath". Then, the roads continues to Santa Fe where you will be able to put down the suitcases and do your laundry (not obligatory!).

Santa Fe

This day is an opportunity to rest and regain your strength after already more than 2200 km of ride. You will be well accommodated to make the most of it.

Santa Fe is a very pleasant city with charming little streets and very good restaurants. For example, the Palace of the Governors has a very "Western" aspect.

The museums are very numerous. But there's nothing better than be sitting on the terrace of a small square to watch the city come alive.

From Santa Fe to Gallup

You continue to New Mexico, via Albuquerque first.

There you will find many places of interest, including the museum tracing the creation of the atomic bomb during the Second World War.

The colors of the Sandia Mountains are grandiose with their different shades of red. After Grants, nicknamed Uranium City after the discovery of uranium in its soil, you join Gallup known as the rallying point of many stars in the heyday of Route 66.

It is also an opportunity to shop for Native American handcrafted souvenirs that are an important source of income for the Navajo and Zuni.

From Gallup to Flagstaff

You're almost immediately entering a new state, Arizona!

Movie sets, parks among the most grandiose in the world, the images that will pass before your eyes will not fail to stick in your memory.

You will cross the Petrified Forest National Park. The colors are splendid in the middle of this forest of trees petrified since thousands of years.

In Holbrook, the Wigwam Hotel with its tepees is a must see.

Further away, near Winslow, a meteorite crater is worth a visit. Then you arrive in Flagstaff and if you have time, you will make a detour to Walnut Canyon and it's beautiful scenery.

From Flagstaff to Seligman

You leave Flagstaff and Route 66 to head north. And yes, today you're going to cheat a little bit to discover one of the most famous places in the world, Grand Canyon!

A helicopter ride can be arranged, or why not a walk through the canyon, it's up to you.

This superb detour will continue with a return to route 66 and overnight on an old stage of this mythical route.

Distance is approximately 340 km.
Spend the night in a old-fashioned hotel in Seligman.

From Seligman to Las Vegas

Continue on one of the most beautiful sections of Route 66 via Peach Spring, Truxton and to join Kingsman.

From there, you'll again leave Route 66, which exists only in small, drivable stretches, to reach the famous city of Las Vegas.

This is your chance to spend all the money you have left over after paying for this trip! And above all to be assist of the permanent show which this city born in the desert provides.

From Las Vegas to Victorville

After joining the last remaining stretch of Route 66, you will leave Nevada for California.

Your itinerary will take you through the Mojave Reservation, where 300 species of animals live safely side by side.

Then, you will pass through Barstow and its Bottle Tree Ranch to reach Victorville, your penultimate stop.

Distance is approximately 366 km.
Spend the night in a hotel of the Victorville center.

From Victorville to Los Angeles

You're leaving for your last day on a motorcycle to Los Angeles !

Via Pasadena, you reach Santa Monica which officially marks the end of route 66.

You will be happy to return the motorcycles for enjoy this busy city on foot. Whether it's for the movie studios, Malibu Beach or Beverly Hills, everyone will find something to do on this last night.

Distance is approximately 186 km.
Night in Los Angeles.
